Calling all developers, in silico biologists and bioinformaticians! We are always on the look out for good developers and professionals in the life sciences. So if you like what you have seen, do write to us!
Developers
- Large scale data processing: Requires proficiency in parallel programming,
distributed and cloud computing. A desire to identify and fix performance issues at all
levels of the stack - from CPU cache misses and thread contention to badly designed
algorithms/data structures.
- Data analytics: Statistical analysis over hundreds of millions of data items.
Interest in graph databases and semantic technologies.
- Web application development: A high-performance, cutting edge Ajax app.
Requires knowledge of the latest HTML5 advances.
- Web application scaling: Coping with highly CPU and memory intensive user queries
in an effective way.
Our technology stack (prior experience not mandatory): We are a JVM,
Linux shop. We use Java, Scala, Groovy and Javascript
(with a touch of PHP and Python). We use one of the leading
graph databases and a variety of SQL/NoSQL technologies like MySQL,
Solr, Redis.

Bioinformaticians, In silico biologist
We are looking for:
- biologists with a sound grasp of molecular biology, genetics and biochemistry
- bioinformaticians with a aound grasp of bioinformatics tools, statistical analysis and data mining
who would like to apply this knowledge to develop sophisticated tools that aid
novel research in biotechnology and drug discovery
- Modeling complex data: Building intelligent data models for applications in systems biology,
translational medicine etc. and keen interest in making data interoperable and accessible.
- Utilising ontologies: Connect data in meaningful ways and leverage standard vocabularies
to interconnect and normalise data.
- Analysing omics data: Using statistical and network analysis tools to make sense of
high throughput datasets.
- Building workflows: Utilise bioinformatics tools and DistilBio to create analysis pipelines.
